Servings: 1.5 Cups
- 1 cup Fruit of choice Can use fresh or frozen fruit
- ¼ cup Cane Sugar, Maple Syrup, or Agave
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice About the juice of 1 lemon
- ⅓ to ½ cup Water
Add the fruit, your chosen sweetener, lemon juice, and a splash of water to a small saucepan on medium-low heat. Mix occasionally and cook for around 30 to 45 minutes.
Take the back of a spoon or potato masher and squash the fruit to help break it down into your desired texture. I like a few fruit chunks in my jam.
Here you can add the water to reach the desired consistency for your spread. I prefer a very thick spread, so I normally add minimal water. If you do add water here, cook it for an additional 5 minutes.
Once you have reached the desired texture and consistency for your spread remove from heat and allow to cool.
Once cooled, add to airtight glass jars either to be frozen or stored in the fridge. This spread will keep in the fridge for a week. If you freeze the spread, it will keep in the freezer for 6 months.
