Servings: 8 Cups
- 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips
- 1¼ cups Smooth Peanut Butter
- 7 cups Rice Chex Cereal
- 1½ cups Powdered Sugar
Melt peanut butter and chocolate together, either on the stovetop or in the microwave. Make sure the mixture if totally smooth with no chunks of chocolate or peanut butter remaining.
Next, add 4 cups of cereal to a large bowl and pour 1 cup of the chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the cereal. Add 4 more cups of cereal to the bowl, then pour the remaining chocolate and peanut butter mixture on top and stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
Let the mixture cool slightly, but not too much because you do not want it to harden. Let it cool for maybe 5 minutes or until it has reached room temperature. Once your mixture is at room temperature, add 1 cup of powdered sugar. Mix until combined. Let the mixture chill for another 5 minutes, then continue to add the powdered sugar ¼ cup, up to 1 ½ cups total, at a time and mix until you have coated all the cereal in the powdered sugar.
Once you have coated all the cereal, spread it out on baking sheets to ensure that each piece is totally chilled before serving or storing. This helps to ensure all the pieces stay nice and crunchy!
Storage Instructions: Store the Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days; it stays crisp, sweet, and delicious without losing its texture.
