Equipment

  • High Speed Blender
  • Medium Saucepan
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Vegan Butter Divided
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 Shallot Roughly chopped
  • 10 oz Silken Tofu
  • 2 cups Vegetable Broth
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice About the juice of ½ a lemon
  • ¼ cup Nutritional Yeast
  • tbsp AP or Gluten-Free Flour
  • ½ tsp Sea Salt
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley Optional and finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Basil Optional and finely chopped

Instructions

  • Place a medium saucepan over medium heat and add ½ tbsp of vegan butter to melt. Once the vegan butter is melted, add the shallot and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until the shallot is transparent, then add the garlic and cook until the garlic becomes fragrant, about a minute. Then remove from heat.
  • Add the silken tofu, vegetable broth, cooked garlic and onion mixture, lemon juice, and nutritional yeast together until very smooth to make the cream.
  • Melt the other ½ tbsp of vegan butter over medium-low heat in the same medium saucepan you used to cook the onions and garlic. Once the butter is melted, whisk in flour and create a roux.
  • Once the base of the roux is formed, slowly whisk in the cream to avoid clumps.
  • Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce is thick and creamy. Stir in the salt, pepper, and parsley, basil, if you are using. Taste and adjust seasoning to your preference.
  • Top your pizza and bake according to the pizza instructions. Use my pizza dough* to make your whole pizza from scratch!
