The History and Inspiration Behind This Recipe
Granola has deep roots in American food culture, dating back to the late 19th century when it was first created as a health food. Over time, it’s evolved into a pantry staple loved for its crunch, flavor, and versatility. My version was inspired by crisp Midwest fall mornings and the irresistible aroma of maple syrup simmering on the stove. I wanted something naturally sweet, deeply spiced, and packed with wholesome ingredients to power the day. Plus, oats and seeds make this granola a hearty, protein-packed breakfast that keeps you full and satisfied!

Tips For The Best Maple Cinnamon Granola
For the best results, follow these simple tips to perfect your Maple Cinnamon Granola every time:
-
Watch the edges: The outer edges tend to brown faster, so check halfway through and stir lightly for even toasting.
-
Stir gently during baking: Instead of pressing the granola, gently stir halfway through baking to ensure even toasting and crunchy clusters without breaking them apart.
-
Bake low and slow: Keep the oven temperature moderate and stir occasionally to get evenly golden, crunchy clusters without burning.
-
Don’t stir too soon: Let the granola cool completely on the pan after baking—this helps it firm up and hold its shape.
-
Cool completely before storing: Let the granola cool fully on the baking sheet to lock in crispiness and avoid condensation that can make it soggy.

Maple Cinnamon Granola
Equipment
- Mixing Bowls
- Baking Sheet
Ingredients
- 2 cups Rolled Oats, Gluten-Free if Needed Not minute or quick oats
- ½ cup Raw Pecans Roughly chopped
- ½ cup Raw Almonds Roughly chopped
- 1 cup Pepitas or Pumpkin Seeds
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- ½ tsp Sea Salt
- ¼ cup Coconut Oil Melted
- ½ cup Maple Syrup
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Mix together the dry ingredients, oats, pecans, almonds, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and sea salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the wet ingredients, the coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla.
- Mix the wet ingredients into your dry ingredients. Mix well to ensure they are fully incorporated. Spread out your granola mix onto your lined baking sheet into a single layer.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, then take out your granola and mix to ensure an even bake. Place back in the oven and bake for another 10 to 12 minutes. Your granola should be drying out and have a nice golden color to it. It will continue to harden and dry as it cools. You do not want to overbake and burn your pecans and almonds.
- Once done, allow the granola to fully cool. You should have some nice big chunks of granola, feel free to break it up to your preferred granola size, and enjoy!
- Storage Instructions: Store your granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 months.
