New Year, New Chapter: The Year Of Fiber

New Year, New Chapter: From the Year of Protein to the Year of Fiber

As we step into 2026, the energy in our home feels beautifully different. Usually, this is the season for rigid resolutions and “new year, new me” tropes, but this year, I’m leaning into a much more nurturing kind of change. While 2025 was my personal “year of protein”—where I focused on building strength and hitting goals—this year, I am shifting my focus toward the powerhouse of plant-based health: fiber.

The Shift: Why Fiber is My New North Star

I am officially declaring this the Year of Fiber. I’m moving toward a season of deep nourishment through food variety, craving plates that look like a mosaic of colors—deep purples, vibrant greens, and sun-drenched oranges. For me, this isn’t about restriction; it’s about addition. It’s about seeing how many different plant species, unique veggies, and hearty legumes I can invite to the table.

Why the sudden obsession with fiber? Beyond just being “filling,” fiber is the secret sauce to a truly balanced and healthy diet. It acts as the ultimate fuel for our gut microbiome, supporting everything from a strong immune system to improved mental clarity. By focusing on fiber, I’m prioritizing steady energy levels and a happy digestive system, which is essential for feeling vibrant and energized. It’s the one nutrient that helps regulate blood sugar and keeps us feeling satisfied long after the meal is over, making it the perfect foundation for a sustainable, plant-based lifestyle.

The Biggest Arrival of the Year

While my kitchen goals are evolving, our home life is about to undergo an even bigger transformation. My husband and I are so thrilled—and, if I’m being honest, a little terrified—to share that we are expectingour first child very early this year!

Lately, my days have been a whirlwind of preparation. I have been so busy getting everything ready for the baby, from spending hours thrifting the cutest tiny clothes to deep-diving into research for the best, safest baby products. Between assembling furniture and putting the final touches on the nursery, the “to-do” list has felt never-ending. It has been a stressful journey at times, trying to make sure everything is just right, but things are slowly coming together.

Our two dogs are already sniffing the new gear arriving at the house, seemingly sensing that their roles as the only “babies” in the family are about to change. We are living in that wild, beautiful space where we don’t quite know what to expect, but we know our hearts (and our pantry) are ready for the adventure. This transition has made me realize how vital fiber-rich, nutrient-dense foods are as I prepare my body and my home for the most important “bold bite” of my life.

What’s Changing and What Isn’t

I’ve had a few people ask if this new chapter means the blog will change. The short answer? Not a chance. If anything, this shift has reminded me why I started this journey in the first place. Creating approachable, bold, plant-based food is what feeds me creatively and brings me the most joy. My mission remains exactly the same: to show you that plant-based eating can be exciting, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying.

Expect more vibrant colors, more diverse ingredients, and plenty of high-fiber inspiration as I navigate this new path. I am so grateful to have you all along for the ride as we grow—quite literally—together.

2026 Goals & Focuses

  • The Power of Variety: Aiming for 30+ different plant types per week to support gut health and maximize nutrient density.

  • Fiber-Forward Plates: Prioritizing beans, lentils, and whole grains to ensure every meal is as functional as it is delicious.

  • Approachable Nourishment: Developing recipes that are quick enough for new parents but bold enough for true foodies.

  • Embracing the Chaos: Giving myself grace as I balance recipe testing with “mom life” for the very first time.
