Tofu Tacos
Equipment
- Baking Sheet
- Mixing Bowl
- Box Grater
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Vegtable or Avocado Oil
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce or Tamari
- 1 tbsp Nutritional Yeast
- 2 tsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
- ½ tsp Cumin
- ½ tsp Onion Powder
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- ¼ tsp Cayenne Powser Optional
- 1 14 oz-block Extra-Firm Tofu
- Topping of your choice!
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350℉ and line your baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a large baking sheet.
- Mix the oil, soy sauce, and all the spices in a large bowl. It will make a brown paste-like texture.
- Shred your tofu with a large grater and add it to a mixing bowl. Pour the seasoning mix over the tofu and gently mix until all of the tofu is coated. Spread the tofu shreds evenly over the pa and let rest and marinate for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Bake the tofu for 30 to 35 minutes, stopping to stir the tofu every now and then. Keep a close eye on it towards the end so that it doesn't burn. You want the tofu to be nice and browned. The smaller shreds will be darker than the larger shreds, and that's ok because it will provide a variety of textures.
- Remove the tofu shreds from the oven and set aside until you are ready to assemble your tacos, taco salads, or burritos!
- Store the leftover tofu taco shreds in the fridge for up to 3 days.
